Context: We got a call from an individual who was trying to get wheelchair ramps installed at five different sorority houses for a college student at the University of Michigan to attend a sorority rush event.
The Constraint: We had time constraints as far as getting all five ramps installed before the weekend of the rush event which was within a week. The ramps were all installed within a two day time. Period in plenty of time for the mobility impaired individual to take part in the event without constraints. Then, when the event was completed, the individual was able to keep one of the rental ramps at the sorority of her choosing so then that way for the next four years, she would be able to get in and out of the house safely. Our team bent over backwards to make this happen so that individual was able to get the full college experience.
Action Taken: Our team went out on a Saturday the day after getting the call for the ramps and took measurements for all five ramp systems. We bent over backwards with our supplier to get that quantity of ramps delivered in time for us to install within 24 hours of receiving the ramps we had installed three of the five systems and 24 hours after that we installed the other two, then when the four sorority ramps that were not chosen needed to be removed, they were removed within 24 hours.
Speed Factor: The ramps were installed within a week of contact with the customer and the actual installation of five ramps was done in under 48 hours.
Because of our quick coordination we were able to get all the ramps installed before the rush event and allowed this college student to have the full college experience over the next four years at her sorority of choice!
